Perhaps you’ve had that catchy song from the new iPod Nano commercial stuck in your head while trying to study in the library.
You can’t focus on Shakespeare and his role in society because all you can think of is “I tried to do head stands for you, I tried to do head stands for you…” The song is called “Bruises” and it’s by Chairlift, one of the bands playing this year’s Fall Fest on Oct. 3.
The Brooklyn based electronic group was formed in Oct. 2005 at the University of Colorado, where guitarist Aaron Pfenning and singer/synthesizer player Caroline Polachek attended. In a Billboard interview, the group says their initial goal was that they wanted to write and record background music for haunted houses. After relocating to Williamsburg in Aug. 2006, the band got signed to Kanine Records. Keyboardist and drummer Patrick Wimberly joined the group in early 2007.
Their debut album Does You Inspire You is out now on Kanine Records along with their self released EP, Daylight Saving. Both pop-electronica records are definitely worth a listen.
Make sure to check out Chairlift, and the other groups at this year’s Fall Fest, including Wale, Tobacco, Krallice, and PersonL.
