Terra Ve Reopens to Bustling Crowds and Mixed Reviews

After an 18-month hiatus, Purchase College’s most vegetarian-friendly eatery, Terra Ve, has reopened for the fall semester. With some renovations on display both in and outside the building, students returned to the facility on Monday to see if the wait was worth it.


Students Return to Evident Results in Campus Construction

Purchase students gained some new ground to walk on as the Campus Center North area of the mall was fully renovated, complete with new pavement, benches, and greenery. The new mall is part of a modern reconstruction of the campus that is still underway.

“I just wish it would happen faster,” said Kaitlyn Raitz, senior music. “It took a whole year just for one section.”


College to Receive $50,000 to Install Emergency Phones

Purchase College will receive $50,000 to purchase Emergency Blue Light phones for a more secure campus, Chief of Police Joe Olenik said in an e-mail. The grant was approved by the Dormitory Authority, Olenik said, after the college applied for it over two years ago.

Israel Hicks, who once served as Purchase College's dean of theatre arts and film, died last week of prostate cancer, according to an e-mail sent to the campus community from President Thomas J. Schwarz. He was 66.


Rising Temperatures Lower Campus Water Pressure

Intense heat and an increasing demand for power have lowered Purchase College's water pressure, campus officials said in numerous e-mails this week. There have also been reports by the Westchester Joint Water Works that water mains were broken and were due for repairs on nearby Anderson Hill Road.


Schwarz: Secretary Linda Tepper Dies of Pneumonia

In an e-mail sent to the campus community, Purchase College President Thomas J. Schwarz said that Linda Tepper has passed away. According to Tepper's LinkedIn profile, she most recently served as an administrative assistant at the college.

Cheerleading Team Fundraises Through Pool Party

On Thursday, April 29, for the first time since the creation of the Purchase cheerleading team last year, the team held a pool party night. The event included food, prizes, music, and, of course, swimming to raise money for equipment and a trip to cheer camp.
